BA Graphic Design:
Branding Project, City of Culture
The aim of this project was to recreate the branding style to promote Bristol. In order to show the dynamic and bright side of Bristol, modern designs of simplicity were used to create an impactful and focused design. To show different sides of Bristol, it’s history was researched to create new activities. For example, the first Easter egg chocolate was created in Bristol, hence to celebrate this culture, an Easter Egg Hunting activity was created to enjoy the Easter chocolates but also to let people see the areas of Bristol through the hunt. The designed posters used the simple shapes from the city poster, to show egg shapes. Similarly, the shapes were also used to present balloons and the wheels of bicycles. The reoccurring theme and chosen identity of Bristol was its harbour and surrounding rivers and seas. This is shown with the wavy lines of the logo. However, the waves can also be seen in the typeface, as they do not have a restive layout. Overall, an effective and dynamic brand of Bristol was created presenting the city in full form.
